Dock 2: Isambard Brunel Dock 3: Tileston and Gast; Puffing Tom Dock 4: Fune Dock 5: Lulu Effects of Kaku on Lucci and Paulie/Lucci, Iceburg/Lucci dynamics -- We know what Rob's after -- or what he says he's after. But Kaku hasn't had much canon explanation, and he Kaku would serve to remind Lucci of what should and shouldn't happen. About not letting his bloodlust get away with him too much. Also perhaps as a bit of a distraction sexually. Lucci's the strongest of the CP9 members, but Kaku is the steadiest, the most devoted to the nominal goal of the WG and of CP9. Lucci and Kaku don't see each other as rivals, but they have a certain respect for each other. When Kaku sizes up the situation between Paulie and Lucci and deduces what kind of fascination Iceburg is to Lucci, there would likely be significant looks exchanged. [[IS there a previous sexual involvement with those two?]] Paulie notices interaction between the two, and since Iceburg is already paying less attention to him personally, he feels perhaps more slighted than the would have otherwise. Hattori during sex -- For the majority of sexual encounters, Hattori would either be silent or gone. He wouldn' leave the room, but just the immediate vicinity. May or may not go out of sight. Paulie would be unnerved by having the pidgeon stare at him as Lucci fucked him. Lucci might have him speak up once or twice, if ever, mostly to unsttle Paulie. Lucci's Interview -- Lucci establishes that he's a complete nutcase. Polite, pretty refined, extremely competent, but a nutcase. Kalifa is present and taking notes. Paulie, Lulu, and Tileston are also present.Iceburg notes the eccentricity but values the competence. Eccentricity doesn't faze Iceburg much. At the beginning of the interview Lucci's main focus is Iceburg. As the interview progresses and Paulie speaks up more often (note that Paulie's confidence has increased to the point that he's willing to take active part in such matters), Lucci notes that Paulie is the second most important person in the room and that he should focus his attention on him. BUT WAIT. Wouldn't CP9 have worked this out in advance? That Lucci would handle Paulie and Kalifa Iceburg?? Well, then, it's just a case of instant attraction. Both very intense men. Lucci seem the type to stare directly at people as Hattori speaks. He would likely spend a good deal of the interview staring directly at Iceburg, at least until Paulie makes himself noticed and Lucci notes how fun he would be. Lucci and Iceburg -- Iceburg has a defintie mystique about him, but this probably wouldn't interest Lucci all that much. He would be mroe interested in the man's intensity and his strength of character, ESPECIALLY SINCE HE KNOWS ICEBURG'S HISTORY. He'd be interested in breaking the man who survived so well the death of his adoptive father, the (supposed) death of his adoptive brother, and the collapse of his adoptive family. In the interest of preserving the mission, he probably wouldn't act on these interests. However, given recent chapters (i.e., Lucci's willingness to jeopardize the mission to get into a fight), he might actually do something, once he's more established as part of the team. Perhaps after Kaku arrives and reminds Lucci that he's not supposed to get too involved, he reacts by going after Iceburg for a bit? Note that by this point Kalifa would be pretty close to Iceburg and so anything Lucci does to get at iceburg would be in his own interests, not the mission's. Lucci might also capitalize on his interest in Iceburg to annoy Paulie. Lucci and Paulie -- Iceburg is interesting, but Paulie is more like fun. Easy fun. Iceburg would be a challenge, but Paulie is too easily upset or frustrated. He's like a game Lucci can play. Paulie, meanwhile, might get a bit possessive/paranoid when he notices (mostly during the interview) Lucci's interest in Iceburg. He might see Lucci as a threat to Iceburg and/or Paulie's (by this point somewhat tenuous) hold on iceburg. AND BECAUSE OF THIS HE BECOMES INTERESTED IN KEEPING AN EYE ON LUCCI. Lucci isn't in it so much for the sex specifically as much as for the mental games. Is his friendship and (as Paulie persceives it) sexual/romantic attraction to paulie sincere or an act? What is the extent of the act? Does Lucci know or doe she deny whatever real interest or attachment he shows. Lucci's main task is to get and stay close to Paulie. It wouldn't occur to him to do so sexually, not at first. Paulie would give that idea to him more than anything else, by - however (un)intentionally - displaying an interest in him. Iceburg's attention would be pretty occupied with the ship at this point - Paulie's bound to be frustrated. From Lucci's side, he'd see it mostly as a game at first -- a fun distraction, frustrating the hell out of Paulie. So it is not exactly an act. It might be necessary for him to stay close to paulie because of the latter's proximity to Iceburg. However, he also finds the relationship amusing for his own reasons and interests, so while the nature of his relationship with paulie might be an act (though not much of one, seeing as he is pretty bastardly anyway), the existence of a relationship isn't. After the betrayal, Paulie would wonder if ALL of their relationship was an act -- not just their being lovers, but his preception of Lucci as a coworkre and a friend (what Paulie perceives as a form of friendship). The friendship part -- the nakama of the Galley-La shipwrights -- is where the heart of the betrayal would lie to him. That is far more hurtful than feighning sexual interest. Although the sexual interest wouldn't be an act for Lucci. He would actually get off on what he does to Paulie. Kaku -- Acts as a sort of balance, evening out the relationships between Kalifa and Lucci and the other two. Interacts with the shipwrights more. When the Straw Hats arrive at Water Seven, all the shipwrights know him and tell them about him. He's very charismatic, and everyone seems to get along with him. He might actually be even mroe of a bastard than Lucci is, when you look at his charismatic cheerfulness contrasted with his true self seen in Enies Lobby. SHIT CP9 is assigned to Galley-La PRECISELY BECAUSE ICEBURG IS BUILDING THE STEAMSHIP. The advanced technology makes them MORE suspicious and gets the ball rolling.
